About Kenny Grant
Point 5 Mountaineering is directed by Kenny, and most courses will be delivered by him.
Kenny was brought up in Lochaber and has been passionately ski-ing, climbing and mountaineering in his ‘backyard’ of Ben Nevis and Glencoe since his youth. He has maintained that enthusiasm over the last 15 years and enjoyed travelling and climbing throughout the UK, Europe and America. A commited all round mountaineer, on his days off you might find him battling up a winter route on Ben Nevis, fighting the pump on a sunny sea cliff, traversing the Cuillin Ridge of Skye or racing up a cold Alpine North Face. Look below for a list of some of Kenny’s more standout experiences in the mountains.
Kenny has worked in the outdoors instructing and guiding for the last eight years and after a period working for other companies including Abacus Mountaineering, West Coast Mountain Guides and the National Mountain Centre, Plas y Brenin, in North Wales, he has set up Point 5 Mountaineering with the aim of delivering his own high quality mountain training.
As well as being a highly experienced and active mountaineer, Kenny also holds the Mountain Instructor Certificate(MIC).This is the highest UK instructional qualification available and allows the holder to instruct climbing and mountaineering in both summer and winter conditions. He is a full member of both the Association of Mountaineering Instructors and the Mountain Instructor Community.
In his spare time, Kenny is also a member of the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, one of the busiest mountain rescue teams in the UK.
You will find Kenny to be hugely enthusiastic about all aspects of his work and equally happy coaching beginners in the core mountaineering skills as guiding an experienced climber up a hard route.
Kenny lives in Fort William with his wife Rhona, wee boy Fraser and energetic Patterdale terrier, Roxy.
